Burgee Family History A Message from Bruce Burgee Geibel Hi Burgee Descendants, After some 24 years of research, I have published the BURGEE family history, specifically related to the descendants of Thomas Burgee, Sr. (c. 1736-1831) who lived in Frederick County, MD. The book is divided into nine basic chapters: (1) Burgee Beginnings; (2) Thomas
Burgee, Sr.; the next six chapters related to sons-daughters of Thomas Sr., (3) Miel
Burgee, Sr. married to Eleanor Waters; (4) Singleton Burgee married to Jane Ijams; (5)
Thomas Burgee, Jr. married to Anna Waters (sister of Eleanor Waters); (6) Mary Polly
Burgee married to Baruch (Bannick) Hall; (7) Martha Burgee married twice to brothers John
Garrott and Nicholas D. Garrott; (8) Rebecca Burgee married to Edmund Purdy; and (9) Other
Burgee Families unidentified as to ancestor. There also ten Appendices: (A)
Census and Slave Records; (B) Wills, Deeds and Land Records; (C) Burgee "Names
in Stone"; (D) Maryland Families with Burgee Ties (includes: Addison, Beall,
Browning, Burdette, Cissell, Clagett, Davis, Day, Enggland, Gaither, Hall, Hendry,
Ijams, Lewis, Linthicum, Magruder, McElfresh, Moore, Warfield, Waters and Windsor);
(E) Burgee Land Transactions; (F) Burgee Contributions: History and Legends; (G)
Descendants Names and Addresses; (H) Alphabetical Index: Ancestors and Descendants;
(I) Documents Section; There are over 300 pages of Burgee history and documentation. I believe each of you will find the information to be very informative and interesting as one learns about their ancestors and cousins that are written up in this document. There are several thousand ancestors and relatives written up in this document, plus references to tens of thousands of other ancestors in Appendix D (Maryland Families with Burgee Ties). Even the early Missouri families mostly have direct ties to original Maryland families who moved west (Catholics on the Frontier). COST. The cost for this 300 plus page (8-1/2" x 11") spiral bound book is $45 per book, including handling and mailing costs. As requested by many of you, the spiral binding is to allow families to add their own information later on to update their books. Please send me a personal check in the total amount for the number of copies you wish to obtain. If you think you might want an extra book for a grandchild or as a Christmas/birthday gift for a special relative, please order it now, since additional printings in smaller quantities will be time delayed and be more expensive. I ask all of you who receive this email to please forward it to other family members who you think I've missed and who might also be interested. Thanks for your help. MAIL CHECKS AND REQUEST FOR BOOKS TO: Since your check is your positive request for the
Burgee book, Bruce Burgee Geibel Tel: 706-268-1182 eMail: bgeibel@tds.net Make sure to include your complete mailing address(es) with your check to make sure I send the copy (copies) to the correct mailing address. I'll send books to other people who you purchase one for if you also provide me their mailing address. I'm excited about making the Burgee history available to each of you who have contributed information to me over the years. I hope you are pleased with the results, as it contains information submitted by you for publication as well as the extensive information I have obtained through public sources: census records, court house and church records, biographical information published in various sources, social security death index records, obituaries and cemetery records, and that referenced in other biographical, historical and genealogy sources. Thanks for you help in bringing this genealogy search to a successful conclusion. Let me hear from each of you. Sincerely, Bruce Burgee Geibel Back to Lawrence E. Burgee Ph.D. |
